The Maritime Engineering Unit of Rivers and Estuaries (IMARES) is a center composed of a multidisciplinary group of qualified researchers.
The Unit is made up of agricultural engineers, civilians and surveyors, as well as student assistants who together achieve an integral work that allows to generate efficient and quality solutions, as well as reliable investigations.IMARES is committed to the sustainable development of the country, so its lines of research seek to provide tools to improve the quality of the design of coastal works and, in turn, to make good management and management of marine and coastal ecosystems.Among its main functions are: determination of wave conditions and extraordinary flows, flood zones, danger of erosion and sediment transport; in addition to the numerical propagation of waves and tidal waves and the design of sheltered protection works, both fluvial and coastal.Specifically, the IMARES-UCR application is dedicated to showing, by means of graphs, the level of the waves in front of Puerto Caldera, in Costa Rica
